Madrid of the 30's was the center not only political but cultural in Spain, especially in the literary aspect. Finally, thanks to the publication of his first book The ray that does not stop in 1936 reached recognition he craved, in the interest of Ortega in the prestigious Revista de Occidente and Juan Ramón Jiménez in his criticism of the newspaper El Sol .
